  Camp is the Best!

(0 A Camps 2019) Camp_rockwell.jpgCamp is the best! Camp is about experiencing something new, creating memories and making new friends.

Most day camps are offered on a weekly basis and some offer a daily rate. Many offer scholarships. Children as young as 3 can enjoy half day and full day programs and teens can find day, overnight camps, counselor in training (CIT) programs.

For all camps in our county go (0 A2 Widgets) Widget_A-ZCamps.jpgonline to our A-Z SUMMER CAMP DIRECTORY to find detailed descriptions and contact information.

If you know of a camp we have missed, let us know! Click on the camp ads below to reach their websites and you will be delighted with the quality programs available.

Enjoy a little family camping too.  Start with the backyard or our local state parks. Be sure to celebrate The Great American Campout in June in your own backyard!

We added more festivals and summer fun!

Have fun planning a great summer! Parmalee

  Welcome from Summer Camp Directors!

Camp Gateway is back! We can't wait to welcome in our favorite campers, summer staff instructors, and plenty of sunshine as we fill the halls with laughter at our new school site! Imagine choosing among these camp themes: Creatures and Features, Imagine - Envision - Create - Make; Discovery Camp - Party Like a Pirate; What type of socks do pirates wear? Español y Música; Move'n'Groove and more!

Over the years Yvette Contois, local mom, artist in her own right and owner of the Art Factory, has taught and listened to what the children want in six hours of unplugged fun. Yvette reports that the children vote for their favorite camps at the end of every summer, "The week long camps the kiddos ask for are: Mermaid Magic, Paint & Printmaking, Sea Creatures, Sparkle Camp, Tiny World, Extreme Animals, Cats/Cats/Cats, Needle Felting & Sewing Fun and Art for the County Fair."

Bill recalls fondly the child who said to him, "If only school could be like camp!" Hearing those words, cheered Bill Trimpi because his mission is to keep it fun while imparting skills. Santa Cruz Soccer Camp is known for the camaraderie and joy the kids experience during the nine one week sessions.

If your children love horses, the place to go is Belmont Training with Cassie Belmont who has worked with children for many years. Cassie provides a tremendous opportunity to learn about horses and ride for hours every day!  The facility is beautiful with comfortable cabins for our resident campers. We also offer limited spots for full-day and half-day camps for local campers.

"We offer lots of patience and encouragement," says Tiffany Harmon, owner and operator of Seahorse Swim School. "Years of experience (30 years teaching swimming) and expertise go into our programs." As well as group lessons and Jr Guard at Elks, we offer individualized instruction at our new pool."

"If your little ones love animals, Leah at Little Garden Patch Farm says, "Here children can visit with the ducks, chickens, goats, pigs, and ponies.  They can climb a tree, play on the swings and trampoline, make up games of pretend, and bake up mud pies in the outdoor play kitchen.  They can help with the garden, make a project in the outdoor art studio, put on an outdoor play or puppet show, or learn something new in the science area.  Flowers, fairy gardens, wild birds, helpful insects, and the occasional wild deer are all part of the rich backdrop that fuels our outdoor play and learning."

Any one love movies in your family? The newest camp in town, Thomas Film Camp has experienced movie makers eager to hep your child learn how to make movies. The staff is comprised of "a composer, multi instrumentalist and a music educator; a Bay Area filmmaker and film editor who has edited award-winning feature documentaries, music videos, and educational content, and directed short narrative, documentary, and experimental films; and a winner of Best Documentary at the Santa Cruz Film Festival. When a camper asks me what I get paid I answer "Sunshine and smiles" I mean it.

The most memorable days end with the dirtiest clothes.
