SPRING BREAK... It doesn't seem possible that it is time to start planning for Spring Break. Spring Break gives us the opportunity to go out of town, plan a vacation in our beautiful area or select a great camp for the kids. No matter the choice, it is time that needs to be planned for, as the kids are out of school for a week!

If you are considering an out of town trip, be sure to check our Travel Reviews. One great thing about Spring Break is that, depending on how far you want to travel, it can include skiing, beach time or something in between. You will find information about all kinds of fun getaways from other families in the Travel Reviews.

Day trips in our own area can be a great alternative to a full-blown vacation. We have so many amazing places to explore in our area and we list lots of Day Trip ideas and Family Activities to help you start planning for some local fun.

Spring Break Camps have become increasingly popular and can be full-day camps or just a few hours. This is a great time for kids to try out a new sport, enjoy art or drama classes and just have some fun. Many of the camps have programs for preschoolers through Junior High. Coordinating camps with friends ensures our kids will have a friend with them and also helps with carpooling.

You can also find it in the center of California Coast Parent magazine. This free quarterly publication is on racks around town. Our online camp guide will be emailed  April 1st and again on May 31st.

Movie Showtimes

Quilters, put on by Kids On Broadway, is an award-winning musical performed by an all-female cast, including youth and adult actors from the local community.  "Quilters" is the story of a pioneer woman and her six daughters, and blends a series of interrelated scenes into a mosaic of patches, or "blocks", of a quilt that capture the sweep and beauty, the terror and joy, the harsh challenge and abiding rewards, of frontier life.

Daria Troxell, who has been working with them told us that this project "has given the young actors the opportunity to learn about a specific period in our history, the art of quilt making, and to act alongside veteran actors from the community."
